The Shack

Today I share with you parts of one of my favorite books The Shack by WM. Paul Young. Not only did my good friend Rissi recommend The Shack to me but she mailed me a copy. During this season of thanks, pick up the phone, write a letter to your friends and family, specifically the ones that would take the extra step with you.

The Shack by William P. Young - FYCNYC• most birds were created to fly. Being grounded for them is a limitation within their ability to fly, not the other way around. We were created to love. So for you to live as if you were unloved is a limitation, not the other way around. Living unloved is like clipping a birds wings and removing its ability to fly.

• trust is the fruit of a relationship in which you know you are loved.

• together, you and I can be in it and not of it.

• it is not the nature of love to force a relationship but it its the naturs of love to open the way.

• be willing to re-examine what you believe. The more you live in the truth, the more your emotions will help you see clearly.

• emotions are the colors of the soul.

• responsibilities and expectations are the basis of guilt and shame and judgement. They provide the essential framework that promotes performance as the basis for identity and value. The idea behind expectations is trying to control behavior to get the desired result. Because I have no expectations, you never disappoint me.

• you can kiss your family and friends good-bye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you.

• forgiveness is not about forgetting. Forgiveness does not create a relationship. When you forgive someone you certainly release them from judgement. Forgiveness does not excuse anything.

• faith never knows where it is being led, but it knows and loves the ONE who is leading.

• If anything matters, then everything matters.

Pick up your own copy and mail one to a good friend as a thank you to them and all they do. Fulfillment and Faith.

Your friend in health,
Coach Adam Cobb
