Micro Cravings – Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail

After flying in from California over the weekend I was craving those warm mix nuts they served on the plane. I took some unsalted almonds, soaked them in water and sprinkled salt lightly over them in a glass bowl. Then I took the easy and unhealthy way of heating them up and used the microwave or in this case the “microcrave”. The picture, below right, is the result after only 45 seconds.

Broken Bowl - Broken Health - Find Your CenterThe bowl cracked in half due to the intense heated radiation the microwave gives off which goes into your food, the air, and you. Failing to plan is planning to fail. What was the problem, I let myself get to the point of craving as opposed to grazing. Grazing or eating small to medium sized meals throughout the day is what I usually do to keep my metabolism high which keeps my body fat low and more importantly my body composition as high as possible. (remember its not about weight loss, its about Health Gain, words are weapons and choose the words that motivate your internal self)

The microwave is the appliance of the living dead. People who use the microwave on a regular basis are walking down a path towards degenerative disease and a lifelong battle with obesity. The more you use the microwave, the worse your nutritional state gets, and the more likely you are to be diagnosed with various diseases and put on pharmaceuticals which, of course, will create other health problems and take you down the highway to hell.

Microwave ovens heat food through a process of creating molecular friction, but this same molecular friction quickly destroys the delicate molecules of vitamins and phytonutrients (plant medicines) naturally found in foods. One study showed that microwaving vegetables destroys up to 97% of the nutritional content, vitamins and other plant-based nutrients that prevent disease, boost immune function and enhance health.

Do yourself a favor: Toss your microwave, or donate it to some charity. It’s much easier to avoid using the microwave if you don’t have one around. It will clear up counter space, save you electricity and greatly enhance your dietary habits. When you need to heat something, heat it in a toaster oven or a stove top pan (avoid Teflon and non-stick surfaces, of course). Better yet, strive to eat more of a raw, unprocessed diet. That’s where you’ll get the best nutrition anyway. It’s faster than microwaving. The foods are far healthier.
