Of course there are really no secrets to success. These are well known principles that, if understood and acted upon, will lead you forward on the journey of success. And success is a journey, not a place. To be truly successful you must continually move forward.

Here is the first of seven points to consider:

1. Clarity: Perhaps Zig Ziglar said it best, “Be clear on who you are and what you want.” Ask yourself these basic questions:

What do you believe in and stand for?
What is most important in your life?
What would you pay, fight, suffer, and die, for?
What do you really care about?
What do you really want to do with your life?
What would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?

The answer to these questions will help you be clear in your values, vision, mission, purpose, and goals. Then you need to:

Decide exactly what you want in life.
Specify what it really means to you.
Identify the true value attached to it.
Determine the path to get there from here.
Make your own detailed plan of action.
Accept what you may have to give up to get there.
Reaffirm your sincerity and the goal before you.

The person you see is the person you will be. Visualize your success as you move toward it. Whatever your goal imagine it already within your grasp. See yourself truly being that very person and you will find yourself moving forward toward your goal, your vision, your dream. It is the clarity of your vision that makes it happen.

We either grow or we die, there is no momentum in maintenance. Think about the last time someone asked you, “What is your goal?” This could be in anything, professional or personal. If you gave the answer, “I’m just maintaining,” how long did it last? Did you challenge yourself enough? Are you happy? Was it fun?

Fun is created sometimes through failure because we raised are bar so high. We didn’t reach the goal but we had enough resiliency to “pull our boot straps up and be a man“, (thanks pops) to follow through and, eventually, reach the goal. How blissful does that feel?

Tip: make sure you celebrate reaching your goal and get focused to set another goal. Don’t let yesterday’s breakthrough become today’s ego trip!

To grow in consciousness, we expand our perspectives on life. So how do we do that? The more we work with the universal — the concept of unity and wholeness — the more everything makes sense. Parts have meaning when they are understood to be parts of a bigger picture. Keep your overall vision in sight!

Consciousness is all about relationships, especially how the lower relates to the higher and how the darkness can exist within the light.

During this holiday season, take the time to realize how your relationships are going, with family, spouse, and self. Take a deep breath and honor yourself for all you are and for that which you are becoming.

Higher consciousness, enlightenment, comes from meaningful experiences and lessons passed with the understanding that there truly is only one law – the Law of Love. When one leads a life expressing this belief, the mind and heart begin to open to new realities, and other dimensional truths become known. -Dr. Norma Milanovich & Dr. Shirley McCune

Today, I wanted to share some tips from Ken Lauher, Feng Shui expert, to feel uplifted and rejuvenated–in your bathroom. Yes, I said bathroom! Feeling good about your surroundings when you are using the facilities is important for relaxation of muscles and better yet, pooping well!

So, let’s get into it. Does your bathroom rejuvenate you in the morning and help you relax and unwind in the evening, or does it create chaos, increase stress and promote tension in your life?

Consider the following aspects of your bathroom and implement some of the suggestions to create a spa-like experience that uplifts your energy and renews your spirit.

1. Bathroom Colors: The best colors for a bathroom include lighter shades of green, blue, silver sage, lavender, and yellow.

The bathroom already has an enormous amount of water energy represented with the sink, tub, shower and toilet. Colors that incorporate the “wood” element, such as light blues and greens, feed off the water element and create a sense of balance.

Avoid colors such as red, purple, emerald, navy, brown and black; they make the room feel smaller. Additionally, red, purple and black represent the fire (red and purple) or water (black) element, which can make the water element in the room undesirably strong.

I recently worked with a client who had a small bathroom decorated entirely in red. The room felt tight and constricting. I felt my body tense as soon as I entered. I suggested that she paint over the red with a lighter cream or white and introduce green accents in the form of a shower curtain, rug and towels. Her bathroom now feels like a lush, personal oasis that she loves.

2. Life Energy: Many homes I visit have a lot of candles in the bathroom, especially on top of the toilet tank. While it’s relaxing and romantic to soak in a tub by candlelight, candles represent the fire element, which actually strengthens the water element already in the space.

Instead of candles, bring live plants into the bathroom to balance the water element. You can even replace those candles on top of your toilet tank with a lush green plant.
Of course, you can keep candles in your bathroom. Simply store them out of sight when you are not using them, or keep only a few displayed. This change is easy and inexpensive to implement, and you’ll notice a difference right away.

3. Proper Ventilation: You want good air flow throughout your whole house to promote the flow of chi, but it is especially important to have proper ventilation and fresh air circulating in the bathroom. Run the fan when you take a hot shower so you don’t create mold and mildew in the bathroom.

4. Scents: Your bathroom experience should encompass all your senses. Small pots of fresh herbs, such as lavender, rosemary or sage, add a relaxing scent to the space, while offsetting the water element in the room. Try to avoid using air fresheners that may add toxic chemicals to the air; look for natural alternatives whenever you can.

5. Organization: What do you see when you walk into your bathroom: the curling iron, makeup and brushes scattered across the vanity? Or do you notice bath salts, folded towels, organized baskets and soothing lotions?

Consider organizing the space to display items that are pleasing to the eye. Keep your hair dryer and other styling tools tucked away out of sight. Even when they’re not turned on, these items emit electrical energy that can energize a space too much.

6. Lighting: Make sure your bathroom is well lit and that you have additional lighting options such as multiple lights or lights on a dimmer.

7. Mirrors: Bathroom mirrors should permit you to see your entire face. If the mirror is not hung at the proper height, and the image cuts off the top of your head or chin, it is slicing your energy. This can lead to problems of self-esteem or feeling “incomplete.” It’s best to have one mirror rather than multiple panes of mirrors, so the mirror does not cut your image into segments.

8. Etiquette: The toilet seat should always be down with the toilet lid closed. Do you really want that bacteria going into the air when you flush the toilet?

9. Proper Maintenance: Fix any leaking faucets and keep the fixtures clean. Dripping water is said to “drain” your wealth and can lead to financial difficulties.

These are just a few ways you can incorporate Feng Shui into your bathroom and your life. How do you feel when you walk into your own bathroom? What do you like and dislike about other bathrooms you’ve visited?

Some people think as long as its in the fridge or freezer it’s good forever. Here are the 6 mysteries that we will start to make history.

1. Mayo has a 2 month shelf life

Zero in my refrigerator; replaced with hummus.

2. Ketchup has a 4 month shelf life

Does not exist in my kitchen; substituted hot sauce.

3. Mustard has a 8 month shelf life

Very common condiment to go bad.

4. Eggs – 1 month shelf life

Hard boil the rest if expiration is approaching.

5. Meat – 1 year freezer shelf life

Less freeze; more nutrients.

6. Canned Veggies – 2 yearshelf life

During client refrigerator clean outs, I’ve seen 4-5 year old can veggies! Replace with fresh greens.

Put together your game plan, execute, have fun, and get fit.

Writing my own poetry opens my appreciation for the work of others. There are amazing thoughts, insight, interpretation, advice, guideance, and so much more, captured in the moment of the poem. Let me share with you today the wise words of William Henley in his poem, Invictus.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath & tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

– William Ernest Henley

Thinking Well has so many components to it. One of of them being the noise that surrounds us day in and day out.

Today is all about The Media Detox. When was the last time you didn’t watch any television and powered off your cell phone. Yesterday I did a media detox, its a way to unplug, hit the hard reset and I highly recommend it to you.

Instead of eating in front of the television, put your favorite music on and enjoy your meal. For myself, I jammed out to some of my favorite Christmas tunes and got really festive. Typically, if you choose music instead of television your creative awareness heightens and can lead to activities like reading, writing, drawing, meditation, exercise, or soaking up some sun.

Where do I start with the benefits of powering off your cell? You can experience all of the above activities and include peace of mind. Ask yourself, “How often do I enjoy activities or just silence without a ringer or notification going off?” It’s
either call, text, email, bbm, facebook update, tweet, etc.

If you are a media detox virgin and don’t feel comfortable with the idea then communicate with your loved ones first then shut everything down for just an hour and create an hour of power in your life today.

For those more experienced do a whole day, move your body, allow thoughts to enter your mind and act on them without clouding them or numbing the ideas with TV and Cell phone poison. So many people tell me they need to just get away. I say, “Do a media detox and go wherever you want to in your mind and spirit right now.”

Don’t wait another minute. Your soul will thank you.

As this beautiful day unfolds, I wanted to share one of my writings with you. This was written on the beach as the sun rose while in a state of thankfulness and exploration. Writing has become one of my favorite hobbies and, while it started in 10th grade when I was forced to keep a journal and “just write”, now its part of my life.

rose to a glimpse of light
spirit drew closer to the sound of flowing ocean
being grew closer to Gods gift the sunrise
we watch multimillion dollar firework displays
drink enough alcohol so our mind fades away
but in truth what we all seek is alive in the sunrise
it is His way to start the day
nature knows it to be true
birds to not hesitate
they do not hit the snooze button
they hit the blue button
the blue button a limitless ocean and sky
do they ask why
why is the drive so i like to think
what if the blue button was the only kool-aid you needed to drink
without tv no ipods
just your mind body and spirit against all odds
a movie that shined the beauty of tulume
when the airport comes will it be its doom
who really knows about then
just going to hit the blue button and zen
– adam b cobb

Not only do I share a piece of my writing today but I share how important it is to get your thoughts out, have a hobby, create the “you” time which is usually lacking in most of our lives. I hope you enjoy this short poem and who knows, maybe you will pick up a pen and a pad and get your story out.

After flying in from California over the weekend I was craving those warm mix nuts they served on the plane. I took some unsalted almonds, soaked them in water and sprinkled salt lightly over them in a glass bowl. Then I took the easy and unhealthy way of heating them up and used the microwave or in this case the “microcrave”. The picture, below right, is the result after only 45 seconds.

The bowl cracked in half due to the intense heated radiation the microwave gives off which goes into your food, the air, and you. Failing to plan is planning to fail. What was the problem, I let myself get to the point of craving as opposed to grazing. Grazing or eating small to medium sized meals throughout the day is what I usually do to keep my metabolism high which keeps my body fat low and more importantly my body composition as high as possible. (remember its not about weight loss, its about Health Gain, words are weapons and choose the words that motivate your internal self)

The microwave is the appliance of the living dead. People who use the microwave on a regular basis are walking down a path towards degenerative disease and a lifelong battle with obesity. The more you use the microwave, the worse your nutritional state gets, and the more likely you are to be diagnosed with various diseases and put on pharmaceuticals which, of course, will create other health problems and take you down the highway to hell.

Microwave ovens heat food through a process of creating molecular friction, but this same molecular friction quickly destroys the delicate molecules of vitamins and phytonutrients (plant medicines) naturally found in foods. One study showed that microwaving vegetables destroys up to 97% of the nutritional content, vitamins and other plant-based nutrients that prevent disease, boost immune function and enhance health.

Do yourself a favor: Toss your microwave, or donate it to some charity. It’s much easier to avoid using the microwave if you don’t have one around. It will clear up counter space, save you electricity and greatly enhance your dietary habits. When you need to heat something, heat it in a toaster oven or a stove top pan (avoid Teflon and non-stick surfaces, of course). Better yet, strive to eat more of a raw, unprocessed diet. That’s where you’ll get the best nutrition anyway. It’s faster than microwaving. The foods are far healthier.
