Mindful Eating

Retrain your brain. How you think affects the way you feel and act. List all the reasons you want to lose weight on a few index cards, place them in areas that you will see everyday, repetition is the mother of all skill.

Overweight people face food with an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. The devil whispers sabotaging thoughts, “Its okay to eat this because… I’m happy, I’m sad, its Friday, I deserve it, I’m hungry, I’m bored, it doesn’t matter, its too hard, its not fair.” The index cards are cue cards for your angel, whose voice gets stronger every time you resist temptation.

I suggest making a list of five diversions you can turn to when you need those sweets example; visit friend, play with dog, etc…

Let me be your lifestyle coach. People power is a great source of support. Now the food pushers, mom, party host, you don’t want to hurt anyones feelings by saying no. But someone does get hurt: you and your waistline. Think first, what are the eventual costs to me if I eat this food.

Eat sitting down, eat slowly and mindfully. Give yourself credit. Announce your achievements, every one, no matter how small. Break the limitation barrier. Why tell yourself you don’t have the capacity within you to live a good life? Have faithl It frees you from self-doubt. Learn to build successes instead of excuses.

Your friend in health,
