10 Easy Tips to Break Your Sugar Addiction Today

FIGHT YOUR SUGAR HABIT NOW

In last week’s Coaching Conversation, I shared with you some frightening facts about sugar addiction. One that is worth repeating is according to researchers at University of California San Francisco, sugar contributes to 35 million deaths globally each year. I hope that this fact alone did shock you—as this number proves that sugar is as toxic as alcohol and tobacco.

I am not naïve to tell you not to eat anything with sugar in it (especially as we talk about Treat Day next week), but I hope you took me up on my challenge last week to decrease your sugar intake to less than 9 grams per serving. Many of us eat and drink things that have well over 30 to 50 grams per servings everyday, which equals 5 to 10 teaspoons of sugar per candy bar, per soft drink, per juice, etc.

First, my goal was to educate you on what “added” sugar is actually doing to your body. This week, I want to help you kick that sugar habit by helping you reduce those cravings. I understand that even with all of these facts, we are all human—and those cookies, cakes and Frappuccino’s can be tough to ignore!

Did you know that water, toothpaste, and fat (yes, fat!) could be your greatest allies? Take just a few minutes today to watch this week’s Coaching Conversation video and learn the best ways to fight off those sugar cravings. Let’s end the sugar addiction today, together. I’m here to help! Try these tips one at a time and see the difference it makes in how you feel. Note these changes.

I am a sugar addict! Help!

Thank you Maria from New York for this great question.  I first want to tell you that you are far from alone in this battle.  It’s a known fact that most people crave either sugar or salt. We also know that anything in excess is bad for you. The thing that most people do not know is sugar is a silent killer.

According to researchers, at University of California San Francisco, “sugar contributed to 35 million deaths globally each year.” What does that mean in context? Sugar should be considered a toxic substance just like alcohol and tobacco.

Since this topic is so important, and I got a lot to say about it, I have made it into a two-part Coaching Conversation series.

In today’s video, my intent was simple: to scare you.  I share some real life facts about how sugar is one of the leading contributors in obesity, diabetes, dementia, hypo and hyperglycemia, heart disease, and FEEDS TUMORS.

Scared yet? Well, you should be.

WORD of the WEEK (WOW): The most logical, safe, effective, necessary and inexpensive way to treat cancer is to cut off the supply of food to tumors and cancer cells–starving them of glucose.  @CoachAdamCobb #FYCmethod #WOW

Craving sugar is a real challenge people face today. It’s an addiction, and it’s so easy to fall off that wagon.

Next week, I will give you some solid tips on kicking that sugar habit and freeing yourself of those cravings. In the meantime, I challenge you to check the labels this week. DO NOT eat anything with more than 9 grams of added sugar. That’s a great start!

Be sure to watch this week’s Coaching Conversation above and see how much sugar really is added to what might be some of your favorite snacks.

Don’t forget to leave your comments in the blog below. What time of day do you start craving sugar, and how do you get through it? What are some healthier substitutions you have been making?

I’m looking forward to next week’s Coaching Conversation and getting you off that sugar addiction for good!

8 Tips on How You Can Improve Your Sleep Tonight

Last week, Kara from New Jersey asked, “How can I improve my sleep?”

In part 1 of this Coaching Conversation, I let you in on a little secret: It’s not the quantity of hours we sleep, but it’s the quality of hours we get. I also asked you to test how much sleep you really need: 5, 6, 7, or 8 hours a night?

Each person is different and without doing your own test, it’s hard to assess the right amount of sleep you actually need to conquer your day.

In fact, if you haven’t done it yet, please do listen to last week’s video and challenge yourself on this exercise—as it could change your life forever. Keep the legendary short sleepers in mind: Bill Clinton, Madonna, and I have a new one for you, Kobe Bryant.

This week it’s about to get tactical. We talked about the quantity of sleep last week. Now, I want to share with you how to get the quality of sleep you need (and deserve).

Check out my video above and take some notes on ways you can sleep deeply and wake up feeling more refreshed than ever.

As a bonus, I’m also going to let you in on a little secret: You don’t necessarily need 8 hours of sleep each night. You may be among the ranks of Bill Clinton and Madonna – who are legendary 4-hour sleepers and let’s just say, “a little productive.”

In today’s video, you will also get the inside scoop on how to determine the amount of sleep that you really need versus what you were told to believe.

Do I need Supplements To Be Healthy?

Today we are tackling a great question from LUCA of the FYC Community. Is there any way I can get healthy, physically and mentally, without taking supplements?

The answer is a resounding YES; you absolutely can maintain nutrients and energy in your body for overall health without supplements.

However, there is an astounding BUT associated to that statement.

The reality is that most people are not eating the right things (or enough of the right things) to get the amount of nutrients their body needs on a daily basis.

What’s important to realize is food is thy medicine, the cleaner the food you eat, the less supplementation you will need.

Click about to watch this week’s Coaching Conversation to find out the top 5 vitamins/supplements that I recommend to take daily and some BONUS information for all of you vegetarians out there!

Tweetable: “I don’t take supplements as a pick me up, I take them to tune me up.” @CoachAdamCobb @FYCmethod

In the comments below, please share what supplements you are taking and why? I know there are so many questions on this topic, so the more you can share the more we can continue the conversation on this very important topic.

Thank you again for taking time to read and watch the blogs. I hope that each week you are taking a nugget or two away and really starting to kickstart your health.

Cheers With Water,

Coach Adam Cobb

As a disclaimer: Be sure to ask your doctor if there are any implications in taking any supplements with any medications you may be on. Most supplements are harmless, however, you always want to consult with your medical practitioner to be sure.

Getting Personal and Raw

This week, I am excited to share with you a very raw, unadulterated Tuesday Talk from my personal home office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn! Yeah! So raw, we took it on my iPhone!

I wanted to bring you into my space—as I am in the process for preparing for my biggest challenge yet…writing my first book.  #8DaysAWeek

As I move from individual coaching to sharing the FYCmethod to everyone that will listen, I am growing every step of the way—in front of all of you (I might add).

Some days I am on fire, some days I am super uncomfortable and nervous, but regardless of what day it may be, I hope that you are taking away something from each blog, each video, and each program that we create—because that’s all that matters.

In today’s video, I am sharing three key things:

1.     What my comfort zone looks like

2.     What makes me nervous and uncomfortable

3.     And, how I have been preparing for my biggest challenge yet

Tweetable: “There is in the act of preparing the moment you start caring.” – Winston Churchill @CoachAdamCobb @FYCmethod

As you watch this weeks video above, start to think, what is the thing you have been yearning to do (or just started to tackle) that will get you out of your comfort zone?

How are you preparing for that challenge? The caring is around the corner. #GoTime
